The Nine Planetary Gems

Navaratna

worn by the kings of Lanka for two thousand years

In Vedic astrology, nine gems correspond to the nine celestial bodies that shape a life. Worn together — or singly, prescribed from a birth chart — they are believed to balance planetary influence. Tradition insists the stones be natural and untreated, which is why Ceylon, source of five of the nine, has supplied Navaratna gems since antiquity.
